
At approximately 2:57 PM yesterday in Jamaica Plain, Boston Police officers arrested 22-year-old Yunelbis Hernandez-Abreu from Roxbury, after responding to reports of a double stabbing at 7 Dixwell Street. According to the Boston Police Department, Hernandez-Abreu is facing multiple charges including two counts of assault with intent to murder.
The officers, who were assigned to District E-13, found two individuals with stab wounds. With urgency, they rendered medical aid until Boston EMS arrived. The victims were taken to a local hospitals, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Detective's work at the scene led to a description of Hernandez-Abreu, and a subsequent manhunt ended with his capture on School Street.
Hernandez-Abreu was located lying on the ground behind 17 Weld Avenue, not far from the crime scene. Police handcuffed him and found a knife inside a discarded sweatshirt deemed to belong to Hernandez-Abreu. The evidence and the arrest came less than an hour after the initial call to the police, reflecting a swift and coordinated response from the local law enforcement.
In addition to charges of assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, Hernandez-Abreu is also charged with trespassing and disturbing a peace. He will face arraignment at Roxbury District Court.
