Construction on the Arcade Creek Bridge replacement project on Auburn Boulevard is scheduled to begin in May. The existing bridge, built in 1927, will be replaced with a new structure that meets current Caltrans and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials standards, according to the City of Sacramento.

The City of Sacramento and Sacramento County are working together on a project to improve safety and traffic flow along Auburn Boulevard. "This project is really about creating a safer and more resilient corridor for everyone—drivers, cyclists and pedestrians,” said Philip Vulliet, senior engineer with the Department of Public Works. The project includes adding new sidewalks and bike lanes to fix gaps in the current pathways. The bridge on Auburn Boulevard will be widened to include an extra left-turn lane onto Winding Way, aiming to ease traffic congestion. The bridge will also be slightly raised to help keep the road open during a 20-year storm event and reduce the risk of flooding.

The bridge project will include features that meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards, as well as lighting and design elements for better visibility. To complete the work, Auburn Boulevard will be fully closed between Winding Way and the I-80/Business 80 ramps starting right after Memorial Day. The closure is expected to last about three months. "The road expected to reopen near the end of August 2025," as stated by the City of Sacramento.
