A 57-year-old San Angelo man has been sentenced to a half-century behind bars for his involvement in the production and transportation of child pornography. James Wilson was handed a 600-month federal prison sentence on Tuesday, as reported by FOX 7 Austin. He was also ordered by U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix to pay $106,500 in restitution to aid the victims in their ongoing recovery from inflicted trauma.

Wilson's reprehensible activities had come to light after an August 2024 Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children was received concerning illicit material uploaded to social media and cloud storage. Wilson was subsequently to have manipulated a 9-year-old girl to make at least two sexually explicit videos of herself. He pleaded guilty in December 2024, admitting then to law enforcement officials his long history with viewing and downloading such disturbing content. According to court documents obtained by FOX 4 News, he used a social media application with the intent to transmit multiple videos across the internet.

Upon investigating, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office and additional agencies pinpointed Wilson as the suspect. Searches were carried out at Wilson's residence and place of employment, ultimately uncovering a vast cache of child pornography that included numerous identified series. Thirteen minor victims from these series would later request restitution, relating to the harms they endured, which the court has granted.

In a disturbing confession, Wilson acknowledged his role in distributing a video showcasing a 10-year-old girl in sexually explicit conduct. This confession became part of the overwhelming evidence that laid the basis for his indictment, subsequent guilty plea, and the stark sentence meant to reflect the seriousness of his actions. It is a somber reminder of the hidden dangers lurking on the internet and the vigilance needed to protect the most vulnerable among us from predators adept at exploiting technology to further their crimes.
