The city is ushering in spring with more than just blossoming flowers and sunny skies; it's packing the season with various free, family-friendly activities courtesy of the Parks and Recreation Department. If you've been itching to get outside and add some zest to your spring itinerary, you've nearly got 50 opportunities across our city's parks and recreation centers. Kick things off with egg hunts and continue through a miscellany of craft workshops and scavenger hunts, all available until April 19.

Andy Field, the Director of the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, aims to thoroughly ensure the variety of programs appeal to families looking for quality time in the great outdoors. "While the outdoors can be enjoyed in San Diego year-round, spring is one of the best times to get out to our parks and recreation centers to enjoy these fun activities," Field said in a statement, as per the City of San Diego. This collection of events is a testament to the Department's commitment to creating inclusive and engaging community experiences.

The event calendar is as diverse as San Diego's ecosystem. Take your pick from numerous scheduled activities: Linda Vista Recreation Center held a Spring Egg Hunt on April 5, while Pacific Beach and Robb Athletic Field did likewise, all offering morning delights for early risers. Not to be outdone, North Park Recreation Center has planned its Spring Egg Hunt for April 12, right along with Paradise Hills' Bunny Hop and Go. For those who love the thrill of the search, Hourglass Fieldhouse hosts a Spring Scavenger Hunt on April 15-18. And there's plenty more where those came from.
