The reprieve from the rain ushers in a much-needed turnaround, with temperatures on Saturday expected to leap 10 to 15 degrees warmer in the inland valleys and onto the coastal slopes of the mountains.
For those living near the coast, high temperatures don't stray far from yesterday's, hovering around 60 to 64 degrees, but the inland regions will feel the change more drastically, with the inland valleys warming up to 55 to 63 degrees. As we move into the weekend, the warming trend continues, with coastal areas seeing a potential high of 70 degrees on Saturday, and the low desert reaching into the warm embrace of 82 to 88 degrees, says the NWS San Diego forecast.
Looking ahead, "Dry weather will then follow for the weekend," with inland areas experiencing an uptick in warmth and coastal regions enjoying slightly milder conditions "Inland valleys onto the coastal slopes of the mountains" will receive the majority of warmth on Saturday and Sunday, according to the latest Area Forecast Discussion from the NWS. Sunday's temperatures are set to climb a bit higher, with inland areas getting around 5 degrees warmer than Saturday.
The upward trend in temperatures is set to carry into early next week, peaking on Monday with highs close to average for the coast and western valleys, but about 5 degrees above average inland. However, as the week progresses, "slow cooling will spread inland for Tuesday and Wednesday, with a little greater cooling for Thursday," as detailed in the NWS Discussion. Aviation-wise, coastal and valley regions should see a break from the overcast skies this afternoon as partial clearing is expected, with gradual clearing overnight into Saturday.
