The teams, upon arrival, were faced with the added challenge of dwindling daylight and a victim whose only line of communication, a cell phone, was on its last breath, about to succumb to a dead battery. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was also in attendance, offering support from the skies with one of their helicopters. Rescue Squad 1 and Cliff Rescue 14 commenced the technical rescue operation to secure the hiker's safety despite these hurdles.
Fortune was on the hiker's side as the SFFD’s skilled crews reached them in time. The San Francisco Fire Department's update confirmed, "Crews on scene successfully rescued the victim, no injuries or medical complaints."
