A San Francisco man faces several charges following a theft spree in Colma that racked up over $2,000 in stolen goods across multiple stores. On Tuesday at the Boot Barn on Colma Boulevard, things took a turn when a male suspect reportedly made away with $1,442.33 worth of merchandise.
The Colma Police Department, responding to the incident around 6:49 PM on March 25, scoured the area but initially failed to apprehend the suspect. A short time later, at about 7:15 PM, officers spotted a man fitting the suspect's description scurrying down a hillside near the Home Depot on Junipero Serra Boulevard. After detaining the suspect, police identified him as Timothy Wainwright, the same individual responsible for the Boot Barn theft, as noted in a social media post by the Colma Police Department.
Upon further investigation, additional merchandise believed to be stolen from Old Navy and Marshalls was discovered in two backpacks linked to the suspect. The estimated value of the items from Old Navy was $764.20, while goods from Marshalls were said to be worth approximately $68.88, authorities reported. A search incident to Wainwright's arrest turned up burglary tools and a credit card in another person's name.
Checks revealed that Wainwright wasn't new to run-ins with the law. He boasted a $20,000 felony warrant and a $5,000 misdemeanor warrant pending for his arrest. The 49-year-old from San Francisco was subsequently arrested for a medley of charges, including burglary, grand theft, misappropriation of lost property, petty theft, and possession of burglary tools, the police department confirmed. He has since been booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
