San Jose Police Department officers, while working on a Gang Suppression Car initiative, have made a significant arrest that underscored the ongoing effort to curtail illegal firearms and drug possession in the city. Last Friday, during a routine stop, officers discovered ammunition on the car's floorboard, which led to a search revealing a cache of illegal items.
The driver, who was found to be a convicted felon, had a 9mm handgun equipped with a high-capacity magazine, additional rounds of ammunition, and over twenty-seven grams of crack cocaine, according to the San Jose Police Department's social media post. The encounter quickly escalated from a mere vehicle stop to a much more serious situation as the officers unearthed evidence of multiple criminal offenses.
Following the search and the confirmation of the driver's status as a convicted felon, the driver was taken into custody. They now face several charges related to firearms and narcotics possession. By the law, the suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail, where they await due process.
In a succinct social media statement, the San Jose Police Department shared details of the arrest: "Officer developed probable cause to search the vehicle and during the vehicle search, Officers located a 9mm handgun with a high capacity magazine, additional ammunition and over twenty seven grams of crack cocaine."
