In a move toward a greener future, Seattle City Light teamed up with Town & Country Markets to throw an eco-centric bash dubbed "Earth Day, Every Day" earlier this month. Held in Shoreline on April 5, the event put energy conservation, sustainable transport, and green gardening front and center, offering attendees a mix of live demos, freebies, and tips for an eco-friendly lifestyle. The initiative strove to plant the seeds of sustainability in daily routines. As seen on Seattle City Light's blog, local food purveyors were also in the mix, doling out earth-conscious noshes.
Adding a jolt to Shoreline's eco-offerings, the Shoreline Town & Country Market's new electric vehicle (EV) charging station, featuring four speedy chargers, was showcased during the event. Having opened last fall, this addition arms the community with a convenient pit-stop for electric rides. The expansion into broader EV charging options aims to drive clean transportation in the region, with the hosted event actively promoting these green advancements.
Attributing this development as a win for local sustainability efforts, Marina Heppenstall, Director of Sustainability at Town & Country Markets, shared with Seattle City Light's blog, "The EV fast charging stations that Seattle City Light installed at our Shoreline market have been a great benefit to the community." She added the recent event "was a way to celebrate these stations and to inspire community members to incorporate sustainability into their everyday lives. We are grateful for Seattle City Light’s partnership in helping Town & Country embody our core value of stewardship."
As the city endeavors to spread the roots of environmental consciousness, collaborations like the one between Seattle City Light and Town & Country Market illustrate a shared commitment to the well-being of our planet.
