Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes made headlines with the recent sentencing of Sergio Lino Sandoval for a spate of burglaries. According to a press release from the Attorney General's office, Sandoval was tied to burglaries spanning from October 2022 to April 2023. Mayes took a firm stance, declaring, "My office will not tolerate criminals stealing from hardworking Arizonans or businesses." This sentiment echoes the broader push for accountability and the protection of personal and commercial property in the region.
The Marana Police Department officers tagged Sandoval as a suspect after spotting his vehicle swiftly leaving a construction site. Following the procurement of a search warrant for his vehicle and connected residences, law enforcement discovered a collection of tools, cabinets, countertops, and other materials reported stolen. These discoveries led to his connection with the series of thefts at construction sites and a residential burglary.
Sandoval entered a guilty plea on February 20, 2025, to one count of theft greater than $25,000, a serious Class Two felony, and two counts of theft valued between $4,000 and $25,000, each a Class Three felony. On April 24, 2025, he received a sentence of four years in the Arizona Department of Corrections, to be followed by seven years on probation. Additionally, Sandoval has the requirement to reimburse over $21,000.
