Sevierville residents can breathe a little easier, no longer having to reroute their weekend plans around downtown traffic closures. An update issued by the Sevierville Police Department gives the all-clear for Bruce Street to stay open this Saturday during the expected Springfest festivities. The event, initially set to take over a chunk of downtown, will now occur in the CNB parking lot, ensuring that local thoroughfare remains unaffected.
As per the Sevierville Police Department, the change of venue means no road closure is necessary, allowing the community to maintain access to the city parking lot and gazebo. "This event has been relocated to the CNB parking lot," the department posted on social media. No road closure will be necessary, and the City parking lot and gazebo will remain open.
Originally, Sevierville's Springfest was to prompt a day-long closure along Bruce Street, stretching from Court Avenue to Parkway. This would have stopped traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., an imposition to residents and local businesses hoping for a regular flow of customers. The prep and wrap-up for events are never a light affair, so it's almost certain the festivities would have felt the stretch of the designated time bracket.
