Shabbona Lake State Recreation Area is calling all beginners for an introductory wingshooting clinic scheduled for the weekend of May 3 through May 4, and registration is now open for youth aged 10 and up and adults.
For a modest entry fee of $10, participants are being promised a day packed with instructional activities and hands-on practice, according to an official press release from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). After starting with a shotgun safety presentation at 10:00 a.m., attendees will be split into smaller groups for individual sessions with certified wingshooting instructors from IDNR or the National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA).
Lunch is provided by the sponsors, which include Pheasants Forever - DeKalb County & LaSalle County Chapters, the Shabbona Sportsman Club, IDNR, and the Illinois Conservation Foundation. The afternoon will have participants blasting their way through clays until around 4:00 p.m.
Those interested in registering or learning more about future events should look no further than the IDNR website.
