Munford Elementary School was the scene of a sobering incident, as Melissa Rose, a third-grade teacher, found herself in handcuffs facing charges. On an otherwise unremarkable afternoon, the Munford Police Department received a call that would lead to Rose's arrest on grounds of Public Intoxication, Child Endangerment, and possession of an open container.
According to a press release issued by the Munford Police Department, it was the school staff who first noticed the unsettling behavior that led to the summoning of law enforcement. The School Resource Officer (SRO) arrived promptly, investigating the premises and subsequently established enough evidence for probable cause.
The Munford Police Department reiterated the gravity of the situation by saying, "The safety and well-being of our children is our highest priority." "We appreciate the cooperation of Munford Elementary School staff and administration during this incident," Chief Randal Baskin added, as if to acknowledge the collective responsibility nurtured within the walls of Munford Elementary.
Melissa Rose was detained without further ado and now awaits proceedings at Tipton County Jail.
