
Clayton residents of Ward 3, mark your calendars – there’s a special election coming up on August 5. The election is being called to find a successor to fill a vacancy in the office of Alderman for the ward. According to the City of Clayton’s official announcement, the chosen candidate will serve out the remainder of the current term for that office.

Prospective candidates can snag a Declaration of Candidacy form from the City Clerk’s Office at Clayton City Hall, 10 N. Bemiston Avenue. The opening bell for candidacy filings is on Monday, starting at 8:00 a.m., and you've got until May 23, at 5:00 p.m. to throw your hat in the ring.
This is a chance for civic-minded individuals meeting the criteria to get involved in local governance. Qualifications for candidacy are clear – hopefuls must be at least 25 years old, registered to vote, and have been living in the City of Clayton for a minimum of two years prior to the election date.
