If you're looking to enter the field of law enforcement or are considering a career change, the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office (SBSO) recently offered a valuable opportunity. Yesterday, SBSO hosted a job fair at the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center on the west side of Chalmette. The event invited job seekers to explore a range of career opportunities within various departments of the agency.
The event aimed to both demystify and lay bare the career paths available within the SBSO, going beyond regular recruitments by inviting participants to directly engage with deputies on site. Prospective applicants were encouraged to bring a list of essential documents, including an ID, Diploma/GED, Social Security card, birth certificate, and, if applicable, their DD214 or POST certifications.
According to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, the fair had much to offer. There were positions available in Corrections, Patrol, and Communications. The Sheriff's Office emphasized the competitive nature of the salaries and benefits as well as the satisfaction inherent in making a meaningful contribution to community safety. For those who couldn't make it to the event but are still interested in joining the ranks, questions and applications can be directed to the SBSO careers page.
