The incident took place in Walnut Park West, on the 5900 block of Lalite, as reported by SLMPD's official website. Officers, who received a call about the shooting just before 8 p.m., found Tools on a porch with gunshot wound(s). The 35-year-old man who was suspected of the shooting was still present when police arrived and was subsequently taken into custody.
Tools was swiftly attended by EMS responders and transported to the hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. Heading the ongoing probe into the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting are homicide detectives. They have encountered an unexpected hiccup in the case, as charges of Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action against the suspect were refused after a review by the Circuit Attorney’s Office, according to the update.
