According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, police reported that the incident occurred shortly after 11:15 p.m., following a call about an "accident with injuries." Upon arrival, officers found the man with gunshot wounds to his back. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
