Early this morning in St. Petersburg, two men broke into a home at 3401 40th St. N., disrupting the quiet night. Around 2 a.m., the homeowner, facing a threat, shot one of the intruders, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
The suspect who was hit subsequently succumbed to their injuries after being transported to the hospital. The identity of the deceased has yet to publicly be released as the story is quickly developing. The second suspect managed to escape, now is subject to an ongoing pursuit by law enforcement, who are actively trying to track the individual down.
Further information is expected to be disclosed as the investigation progresses. Police are encouraging anyone with knowledge pertaining to the incident or the whereabouts of the second suspect to come forward.
