Drivers in Sullivan County should expect delays on SR 93 due to scheduled construction work starting this week. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced that a stretch of State Route 93 will be closed for about 20 minutes in both directions, starting at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and again on Friday, for blasting operations necessary for ongoing road improvements.
The specific segment to be closed is located between Murrell Lane and State Route 347 (Lone Star Road), right near the Derby Drive intersection. Motorists are being advised to find alternate routes to avoid the area during these times because the closures could extend beyond the 20-minute timeframe if additional time is needed to clear debris from the road. Drivers should plan accordingly, consider leaving earlier, or take a different path to reach their destinations.
TDOT stresses that these closures are subject to change based on the weather. Drivers are encouraged to check conditions before departure, and TDOT reminds everyone to refrain from distractions such as tweeting, texting, or talking on the phone while driving for the safety of both workers and fellow travelers.
