Surprise Police are conducting a thorough investigation after a worker at a landfill in the west Valley stumbled upon human remains yesterday morning. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the discovery was made just before 7 a.m. at a privately-run landfill situated near 195th Avenue and Deer Valley Road. The identity of the individual found has not been disclosed.
In an attempt to identify the deceased and determine the cause of death, Surprise Police have begun to closely work with the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office. They have not yet announced if they suspect foul play. A statement from the police, obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, mentioned that they are also working to "notify their next of kin," indicating the body has not been unidentified for long.
AZ Family reports that the landfill, operated by WM, is a regional facility commonly used by residents and businesses throughout the area. Surprise Police are currently urging anyone with information related to this case to come forward.
