A man involved in a protracted standoff with law enforcement in Spring Valley has been detained. Jaime Osorio, 35, became the focal point of a long-reaching police operation yesterday after being spotted by San Diego sheriff's deputies near Gillespie Drive around 10:30 a.m., according to a report from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
Osorio, identified by officials as having an outstanding felony warrant, attempted to elude deputies, prompting a swift response that escalated when he retreated into a residence. Deputies, citing safety concerns, cordoned off the area, and the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail, commonly called SWAT, was summoned to the scene. For several hours, the tactical dance of cat-and-mouse played out before a breach by SED deputies came up empty.
It wasn't until later in the evening, around 6:00 p.m., that deputies reportedly spotted Osorio once more. This time, he was on the run along La Presa Avenue, but his freedom was short-lived. A perimeter was quickly re-established, and law enforcement personnel managed to locate Osorio, who was apprehended without further incident.
Following his capture, Osorio was incarcerated at the San Diego Central Jail. He faces multiple charges, including domestic violence, threats with intent to terrorize, and assault with a deadly weapon, in addition to his previous felony warrant, the Sheriff's Department detailed in their statement.
