In the pre-dawn hours, a pair of suspected car burglars was swiftly apprehended by the Knoxville Police Department's Central District officers. The incident, which unfolded in the downtown area's State Street Garage, saw the two men, aged 28 and 32, charged with theft and burglary from a vehicle after they allegedly rummaged through an unlocked car, searching for valuables.
According to a social media post from the Knoxville Police Department, officers were alerted to the burglary in progress around 3:30 a.m. this morning. Surveillance footage was consulted, revealing two suspects testing door handles and stealing items from an unlocked vehicle. The estimated value of the stolen goods amounted to roughly $1,500.
Acting with expedient precision, officers managed to locate and arrest the suspects in close proximity to the scene of the alleged crime. The Knoxville Police Department expressed their appreciation for the officers' daily efforts to curb crime and ensure community safety, as highlighted in the department's social media update following the arrests.
