Yesterday morning, a routine traffic stop in Cincinnati escalated into a dramatic event as a police pursuit culminated in a crash outside a local fire station. The incident began around 2 a.m. when Cincinnati police attempted to pull over what they suspected was an intoxicated driver. The chase ended abruptly as the vehicle struck the retaining wall of Fire Station #8, located at the intersection of Montgomery Road and Langdon Farm Road in Pleasant Ridge, as WLWT reported.
This high-speed chase led through the streets of Pleasant Ridge, waking firefighters from their sleep as the crash occurred near their residence at the firehouse. The impact resulted in one of the vehicle's occupants being trapped and subsequently requiring extraction from the crumpled car. The driver and the trapped passenger were both transported to the hospital to be checked for injuries. Despite the violent nature of the crash, injuries were reported as minor, according to Local12.
The chase had its inception in the neighboring community of Norwood, where police officers began their pursuit of the alleged DUI suspect. Concluding near the Pleasant Ridge Montessori School, the involvement of the Cincinnati Police Department added another layer of urgency to the quiet predawn hours. "Two people inside the car were taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center Hospital with what CPD said were minor injuries," according to WCPO.
