The Georgian cities of Suwanee and Duluth are preparing to face off in a unique competition where the stakes are high, yet there are no losers; this is the "Battle of the Cities" Blood Drive Challenge set for May 1, 2025. In a press release from the City of Suwanee, it was announced that in partnership with the American Red Cross, the two communities would rally their residents and city workers to donate blood in a bid to save lives and earn local bragging rights.
While it's common to see cities compete in terms of sports or economic accomplishments, this particular challenge offers a rare opportunity for citizens to demonstrate community spirit and civic responsibility by rolling up their sleeves—shedding blood not in conflict but in solidarity. The Suwanee blood drive is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Suwanee City Hall, located at 330 Town Center Avenue, whereas Duluth plans to start earlier, welcoming donors from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Festival Center on 3142 Hill Street, as per the City of Suwanee's website.
The incentive to participate goes beyond civic pride, as the American Red Cross will be offering a $20 e-gift card along with city-themed merchandise to thank those who donate. Although walk-ins are welcome, appointments are recommended to ensure a smooth experience, and donors are reminded to bring a valid photo ID.
