Tampa Police Department officers were called to downtown Tampa and the Riverwalk area on a Sunday due to reports of bicyclists and dirt bike riders moving recklessly among pedestrians. According to WFTV, in response to the dangerous behavior, police intervened, resulting in the arrest of four individuals; one of the arrestees was found to be in possession of a firearm.
Aerial footage and bodycam video released by the department showed the extent of the recklessness as the group weaved through public areas, creating hazardous conditions for those nearby, FOX 13 News detailed. As officers arrived, many of the riders fled the scene, but four were taken into custody, with one of the men arrested found to have a gun.
WFLA noted that video evidence presented by Tampa Police captured several bikers pulling wheelies along the Riverwalk and narrowly dodging walkers, highlighting the potential danger to the public. Although the identities of those arrested have not been released, the police urge the community to continue its support and report any similar instances of reckless biking.
