At around 9:20 p.m., near the intersection of Gate Parkway and Burnt Mill Road, a violent collision occurred between a motorcycle and an SUV. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the motorcyclist, a male in his late teens, was traveling southbound on Gate Parkway when the SUV, driven by a woman heading north, made a left turn directly into the motorcyclist's path, resulting in the fatal impact.
The aftermath of the crash was grim, as first responders from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department were called to the scene and subsequently pronounced the young motorcyclist dead. This incident, reported by First Coast News, marks the 46th traffic-related death in Duval County this year and, regrettably, the 11th to involve a motorcyclist. The roadway was closed for several hours as investigators worked through the details of the crash.
