Early Tuesday, a chilling scene unfolded on Chicago's South Side as three teenagers became the unintended targets of a drive-by shooting in Grand Crossing. According to Fox32 Chicago, the incident occurred in the 7900 block of South Maryland Avenue around 12:23 a.m., where police discovered the three injured victims following the attack by assailants driving a red SUV.

A 14-year-old boy was shot in the ankle, and a 16-year-old girl, alongside a 13-year-old boy, each took bullets to the foot, as reported by the victims to law enforcement. All three were transported to Comer Children’s Hospital, where their conditions were stable.

Adding to the account, the Chicago Sun-Times confirmed that the gunfire erupted as the adolescents stood on the street early Tuesday. The 13-year-old was hit in the left foot, the 14-year-old sustained a wound to his left ankle, and the 16-year-old girl was shot in her right foot.

Investigations are currently underway as the officials of Area Two scour the city for leads, swinging their focus toward locating the red SUV described by the victims, a vehicle now synonymous with the anguish of the evening's events, yet as of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the drive-by.
