The Oregon Department of Human Services has confirmed that 16-month-old Isaiah Johnson, who had been reported missing since April 1, along with his mother Cierra Rosemon, was found safe on Friday. The child, last seen in the Oregon City area, was located after nearly ten days of uncertainty about his and his mother's whereabouts. ODHS initially issued an alert for a welfare check, underpinning concerns for the toddler's well-being, but further specifics were not disclosed, as per KATU's report.
On April 10, almost in response to the growing community fret, the Oregon DHHS Child Welfare Division announced that Isaiah was believed to be at risk, though the department stopped short of elucidating the nature of the risk involved. Found on the subsequent day, crucial details surrounding the circumstances of Isaiah's discovery remain undisclosed. While it is known that he was last seen with his mother, ODHS did not clarify whether the two were found together, as mentioned in a statement obtained by KPTV.
Described as a toddler with curly, black hair, brown eyes, weighing approximately 24 pounds and standing 32 inches tall, Isaiah's disappearance sparked a broad search. Authorities believed he could be in NE Portland, Vancouver, or Tacoma, with ODHS urging the public to call 911 or the Oregon Child Abuse Hotline with information. "Anyone who suspects they have information about the location of Isaiah or Cierra should call 911 or the Oregon Child Abuse Hotline at 1-855-503-SAFE (7233)," a Thursday press release stated by the Oregon City News Online.
Though details remain scant, the news of Isaiah’s safe return brings a sigh of relief to anyone following the case. The Oregon DHS has not released further details at this point, regarding after being found, Isaiah's current condition or the ongoing investigation.
