Commuters in Sullivan County are in for a scheduling shake-up, as State Route 93 sees lane closures due to construction work. At approximately noon today, both directions of State Route 93 between Murrell Lane and State Route 347 will be shut down, with daily blasting operations planned around the intersection of Derby Drive, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Each day until April 25, at precisely 12 p.m., traffic will be temporarily halted for these operations, approximately lasting 20 minutes, though the closures might extend beyond that time frame as crews work diligently to clear the area, as detailed by the TDOT. This construction could lead to prolonged blockages, for, due to the proximity of the blast zone to the roadway, extra time may be required to ensure the lanes are free of hazardous debris.
