A Tucson man has been arrested on manslaughter charges after his dogs were involved in a deadly attack, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. The Pima County Sheriff's Department announced that 60-year-old Martin Martinez is facing charges following the attack that occurred last Sunday, which led to the death of 43-year-old Kevin Renguul. The victim was found lying in the road with critical injuries and later died at a local hospital.
Early investigation suggests that Renguul was attacked by approximately five dogs. These animals had reportedly escaped from Martinez's property and had a known history of aggression, including a previous attack on a neighbor. Despite being initially accused of endangerment and felony assault, the charges against Martinez were elevated to include manslaughter following Renguul's death on Wednesday. Martinez is currently held on a $275,000 bond, according to coverage by KOLD News 13.
Details on the tragic incident continue to unfold as the Pima County Sheriff's Department investigates the circumstances that led to the fatal attack near Valencia and Mark Road in Tucson. Officials with PCSD have yet to publicly identify the breed of the dogs involved. It has been confirmed that all of the dogs in question were taken into custody by Pima Animal Care Center (PACC).
