
Violence erupted on a CTA bus late Sunday night in Chicago's Northwest Side after an argument between two men escalated into gunfire. According to Chicago Sun-Times, a 40-year-old man engaged in a heated dispute with another individual on the bus located in the 4800 block of West Belmont Avenue, around 11:45 p.m. The argument concluded when the 40-year-old stepped off the bus and, soon after, opened fire at those on board.
One of the bullets struck the man the shooter had been arguing with, wounding him in the abdomen and leg. He was subsequently taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in fair condition, as FOX 32 Chicago reports. A second, 22-year-old man, was grazed by a bullet in the ankle and was transported to Community First Medical Center, also in good condition. As police continue to investigate, the perpetrator remains at large.
The Chicago Police Department has not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting. Detectives from Area Five have been tasked with the investigation into this incident. The CTA has not released any additional information on the sequence of events that led up to the shooting.
