Two individuals have been taken into custody by law enforcement following an armed robbery at a Wilton Manors smoke shop, as confirmed by the local authorities. The suspects, identified as Jailyn Voigt and Sonjay Brown, were arrested subsequent to a robbery that occurred earlier this month at World of Smoke & Vape, which was situated at 2201 Wilton Drive. As reported by Local 10 News, Detective Haley Plante detailed that the suspects entered and exited the shop multiple times before one of them brandished a firearm at an employee.
The robbery, which transpired around 5:30 a.m. last Tuesday, April 15, was captured on surveillance video showing two masked individuals entering the store several times. Thereafter, one suspect, clothed in black, pointed a gun at the store clerk while their accomplice, adorned in red, proceeded to swiftly shoplift merchandise from the shop's shelves. In accordance with a statement obtained by WSVN, approximately $800 worth of vaping products and accessories were taken during the incident.
Notably, the store clerk's quick thinking to activate a panic button allowed for the prompt alerting of the police. The suspects fled the establishment, heading south on Wilton Drive, as authorities continued their diligent pursuit.
