The University of Cincinnati's co-op program has become a stepping stone for many of its students to gain firsthand experience in their respective fields, and finance major Khalid Davis is no exception. Navigating the competitive waters of the financial sector, Davis engaged in a co-op with First Financial Bank in Cincinnati. There, instead of sitting in lecture halls, he cut his teeth on real balance sheets and client consultations.
Striving beyond textbook knowledge, his foray into the professional world wasn't just a resume filler. Davis, as reported by the University of Cincinnati, participated in what he considered a "rotational program," which allowed him to sample different areas of the bank. Initially immersed in internal procedures, he later transitioned to a role where, as a risk analyst, his love for more personalized interaction could thrive.
From the streets of Dayton, Ohio, Davis carried with him into the halls of finance a desire to make an impact on individuals, whether majestic or modest in scope. Recalling the amalgam of anxiety and anticipation on his first day at First Financial Bank, Davis found solace in the nurturing ethos that permeated the establishment. "I was pretty nervous, not knowing what to expect and what was going to happen," Davis told the University of Cincinnati. "But my time at First Financial was tremendous. Everyone was adamant about wanting me to succeed. The culture was very supportive."
