The full closure, spanning from N. Island Road to one mile east of the same road, is slated for three consecutive weekends starting tomorrow, April 25, and ending May 11. According to DOTD officials, crews will be working diligently to replace cross-drain pipes at three different locations along this stretch of highway.
The schedule for closures is as follows: from 7 a.m. tomorrow, April 25, through 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 27; the same times from Friday, May 2nd, through Sunday, May 4th; and finally from Friday, May 9, through Sunday, May 11. Drivers planning to navigate through these areas will need to seek alternative routes as detours will be put in place. Those traversing eastbound on LA 82 will be rerouted via LA 27, to LA 14 to LA 35, and then back to LA 82, while westbound motorists will follow the reversed sequence. Detour signs are expected to be posted to guide motorists accordingly.
The Louisiana DOTD stresses the importance of safety and patience during these infrastructure improvements. "DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment," a DOTD statement read.
