A seven-year-old boy from Clearfield, Utah commandeered his parents' car, taking his five-year-old sister along for what turned out to be a precarious drive to Ogden, as ABC4 reported. Officials were alerted to a reckless driver near 21st Street and Wall Avenue in Ogden early Sunday morning, where a caller flagged that the vehicle was swerving, fearing that the driver could be a child.

The youthful driver had traveled approximately ten miles with his younger companion, managing to navigate through multiple jurisdictions before the automobile was eventually halted by a parking strip, according to Gephardt Daily. The Ogden Police Department confirmed this odyssey began in Clearfield, citing the boy took the family vehicle without his parents' knowledge, and the children were later found unharmed and were safely reunited with their guardians at a police station.

Eyewitnesses had called in, troubled by a vehicle that couldn't maintain its lane, but the young motorist, however, did not yield to the initial traffic stop attempts by police, as per KSL. To de-escalate the risk to the public, officers instead tracked the vehicle passively until it was disabled

The impromptu journey reportedly concluded on 40th Street in Ogden, with minor damage to the car and no one injured, after the siblings had set out with a destination in mind, a McDonald's, as per a post on Facebook from a woman claiming to be the children's mother, who described her astonishment and relief upon their safe return. Ogden police handled the situation delicately, taking both children to a police station, freeing them from the aura of any immediate criminal consequence, because of the driver's tender age, no charges are being pursued. Police shared in a compassionate acknowledgment of the adventure's youthful innocence.
