Early in the morning hours yesterday, a tragic incident on LA 16 in Livingston Parish took the life of Chandon Hickerson, a 26-year-old from Vacherie. The accident occurred near Old Ferry Road, involving two vehicles, a 2007 Ram 2500 pickup truck, and a 2014 GMC Sierra driven by Hickerson, as reported by Louisiana State Police Troop A.
The eastbound Ram inexplicably crossed the median into oncoming traffic, culminating in a head-on collision with Hickerson's westbound vehicle; both drivers were found to be unrestrained at the time of the crash, and while the other driver survived with moderate injuries, Hickerson's injuries proved fatal, leading to his death at the scene.
While impairment is not currently suspected, authorities have collected standard toxicology samples for analysis to determine if it played a role in this devastating event, with the investigation ongoing to uncover the precise cause of the incident.
