Vallejo has been shaken by its third homicide this year after a fatal stabbing occurred last Tuesday. The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) was summoned to the 2800 block of Redwood Parkway around 10:31 PM, where they found a male victim with at least one stab wound. While first responders worked to stabilize the man until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) could transport him to a local hospital, he tragically did not survive the injury, Hoodline reports.
Two days after the stabbing, VPD detectives identified 30-year-old Manuel Martinez, a resident, as the suspect. According to a social media post from the Vallejo Police Department, Martinez was apprehended last Thursday, without incident, as he walked in the vicinity of the crime scene. Post-arrest, he was booked into the Solano County Jail for murder.
The victim's identity has not been publicly disclosed pending notification of kin by the Solano County Coroner's Office. Law enforcement officials are thoroughly examining potential motives and the events leading up to this violent act, which has stirred the community. As per Hoodline, detectives Jaleesa Bradshaw and Daniel Callison lead the investigation and have invited the public to contribute any information that might shed light on the case.
