In a recent operation that turned a routine patrol into a significant drug bust, Vallejo Police Department officers stopped a gray Kia Forte on Sunday for illegal front window tint. The vehicle was pulled over near Fairgrounds Drive and Corcoran Avenue, where they encountered a juvenile driver alongside an adult male passenger, as per the Vallejo Police Department.
The traffic stop swiftly escalated when it was discovered that the driver, a minor, was operating the vehicle without a valid driver's license. The juvenile was detained, and his passenger was removed from the vehicle. Officers conducted a thorough inventory search of the car before it was set for a 30-day tow hold due to the driver's unlicensed status.
Digging deeper into the vehicle, police uncovered two backpacks in the trunk laden with roughly three pounds of marijuana, various bottles of prescription-grade promethazine, two digital scales, several clear plastic baggies, and upwards of three thousand dollars in cash. The adult passenger was arrested, and both individuals are now subject to an investigation for possession of narcotics for sale.
The findings from the traffic stop have been seized as evidence, with the adult passenger now behind bars at the Solano County Jail. Meanwhile, the juvenile was cited and released to a guardian. As highlighted by the Vallejo Police Department's account, "even a routine traffic stop can produce significant enforcement results."
