In a recent operation by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team, wanted suspect 33-year-old Stephen Martin was brought into custody after a tense standoff in the 700 block of North Blaney Road; this event unfolded in unincorporated El Paso County, where Martin was on the radar for charges of First-Degree Kidnapping as issued by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), as reported by El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
Automatically presumed armed based on past threats to utilize a firearm, the diplomatic maneuvering of the El Paso County Sheriff's crisis negotiators proved crucial, authorities were able to safely escort four adults and one child from the premises, leaving Martin alone to contend with his dwindling options, as it became apparent that he had taken refuge in a subterranean hollow beneath a shed, a concealment spot secured by a hatch that was not readily accessible.
