A suspect has been arrested by Watertown Police in connection to a string of break-ins at 50 Watertown Street. The Watertown Police Department's social media post identified the man apprehended as Mr. William Beers, linked to multiple break-ins at the said apartment property within the last week. As reported on the Watertown Police Department official Facebook page, Beers is charged with numerous offenses, including four break-ins and one attempted entry.
It was yesterday, around 6:00 p.m., when officers were alerted to the suspect's latest activity at the location. Arriving at the scene, Officer St. Onge found Mr. Beers outside the apartment complex, where taking the suspect into custody proceeded without problems. According to the post, the incidents mostly involved Beers targeting residents' packages, marking him as a presumed serial package thief.
Watertown Police attribute the successful operation to the diligent work of Detectives Reynolds and Kelland, who led a thorough investigation. They have brought a total of 13 charges against Mr. Beers, who was scheduled for an arraignment in Waltham District Court on the same day of the police department's announcement. The investigation into these incidents is reported to be still in progress.
The department has also reached out to the public for further assistance. Concerned or affected residents of 50 Watertown Street are encouraged to approach with any additional information or to report if they suspect their packages are missing. Detective Joe Reynolds has been assigned as the point of contact and can be reached at 617-972-1309, as per the authorities' notice urging community involvement in the ongoing case.
