A Waukegan man is now facing charges after the body of missing Antioch woman Megan Bos, 37, was discovered in a container on his property. The search for Bos, reported missing on March 9, culminated on April 10 when police located her body at the 700 block of Yeoman Street residence of 52-year-old Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, according to a report by the Chicago Sun-Times.

Initially, Mendoza-Gonzalez had claimed that Bos left his home after a visit on February 19, a narrative that shifted under police questioning. He later revealed, in a statement obtained by the WGN-TV, that he found Bos dead in his basement and, out of fear, decided to not report the death. According to police, he had left Bos' body in his basement for a few days before moving her to a container in his yard.

Upon discovery, the Lake County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy of Bos' remains on April 11, which showed no signs of trauma or evidence of a struggle. Mendoza-Gonzalez, now charged with concealment of a death, abuse of a corpse, and obstructing justice, broke Bos’ phone the day following her alleged overdose, throwing it away, and when asked about his future plans for the body, he said "he didn’t know," as recounted by the Chicago Sun-Times.

During the interrogation, Mendoza-Gonzalez, who spoke Spanish and required an officer for translation, told detectives that on the night Bos visited, she had consumed unidentified drugs and had asked to stay in his basement. Mendoza-Gonzalez claims to have found Bos deceased upon his return from another part of the home, where he was repairing a leaky pipe. The ongoing investigation, which continues to await further laboratory results, including a toxicology report, marks a grim episode in the community; Mendoza-Gonzalez appeared in court first on April 12, as noted by WGN-TV.
