Heads up, commuters and truckers who regularly traverse the eastbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge. Starting this weekend, you're looking at lane closures and possible delays. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced that bridge repair work on the eastbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge is scheduled over the next three weekends, affecting two right lanes and the shoulder. The necessary work is set to take place, weather permitting, as per MoDOT.
Beginning tonight, the closures will start each Friday at 8 p.m. and go until 5 a.m. the following Monday. Travel will be reduced to three open lanes on the bridge during this period. The repair work is slated for the weekends of April 11-14, April 18-21, and April 25-28. Always looking to complete diligently, crews will be using every available hour on these weekends to address the bridge's needs.
It's significant for haulers to note that during the bridge work, a weight limit has been imposed. Semi-trailers crossing the bridge are subject to an 80,000 lb. weight limit. This restriction is essential for maintaining safety while the bridge is under repair, and all heavy-load carriers will need to plan their routes accordingly.
For those planning to cross the Missouri River during these times, patience will be required. Traffic is expected to be congested, and alternate routes should be considered when possible. MoDOT is asking drivers to be cautious, giving crews who will be working directly adjacent to moving traffic plenty of safe room. Keep an eye on MoDOT's website for updates on the construction progress and any changes in the repair schedule.
