A Honduran national residing in West Valley City, Utah, faces federal drug charges following the seizure of heroin from his vehicle and residence. Jose Manuel Osorio-Dominguez, 31, was indicted by a federal grand jury, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The indictment stems from an investigation that led to the discovery of 171 grams of the substance believed to be heroin.

The indictment came after a two-month investigation by the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force, as documented in court filings. On April 8, while investigating a drug trafficking organization, a traffic stop was conducted on a 2014 Toyota Corolla, behind the wheel was Osorio-Dominguez himself, whereupon searching the vehicle, detectives found 53 grams of what field-tested positive for heroin. In a following raid in Taylorsville, an additional 118 grams of the same substance and $5,000 were confiscated, with Osorio-Dominguez being promptly taken into custody.

Osorio-Dominguez now faces charges of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, with his initial court appearance scheduled for April 18th at the U.S. Magistrate Judge’s courtroom in Salt Lake City. Acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti for the District of Utah made the initial announcement, pointing out the collaboration between local authorities and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the case.
