The Westport Police Department has reported an alleged assault that occurred in the woods behind Sisson Brook Lane. According to a Facebook post, a female visited the station on April 8, 2025, claiming she had been assaulted by David DeVeau while checking on his well-being following a recent breakup.
The victim informed the police that she and Mr. DeVeau went for a walk on April 7, 2025, through the woods, where the reported assault took place. Immediately responding to the claim, the Westport Police Department's Detective Unit applied for and secured a warrant for DeVeau's arrest, holding a man trying to provide comfort who then turned into an alleged attacker.
David DeVeau, a resident of Sisson Brook Lane, was taken into custody on April 9, 2025. He was charged with three counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person Over 14 and one count of Assault with Intent to Rape. DeVeau was brought before the court, detained overnight, and subsequently released with a GPS monitoring device.
