Community spirit and athletic fervor are set to converge at Veterans Park tomorrow, as the White Settlement Police Department plays host to the Special Olympics Texas Law Enforcement Torch Run. In an announcement made via social media, the White Settlement PD invites one and all to either take part or be a part of the cheering squad at this heartwarming event scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
The run, which invites participation in a one-mile walk or run within the park, offers a chance for community members to show solidarity with Special Olympics athletes. According to the Facebook post by the White Settlement Police Department, "It's almost that time... The WSPD is hosting the Special Olympics Texas Law Enforcement Torch Run on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. at Veterans Park."
Participation is open to all, but those wishing to walk or run must sign up by contacting WEST COMM 911 Dispatcher Adrianne Stewart at [email protected]. Commemorative shirts are also available for a $25 purchase, allowing participants to hold onto a memory of the event while also contributing to the cause. The Torch Run stands as a beacon of inclusion and support, reinforcing the community's commitment to empowering those with intellectual disabilities through sports.
