A tragic incident unfolded at a DeKalb County motel on Tuesday morning, leading to the death of a woman from gunshot wounds. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, DeKalb County police were called to the Studio Motel 6 on Crescent Centre Boulevard around 7:45 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman who had been shot at least once. She was urgently taken to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

While the investigation is still in progress, detectives have noted that the shooting occurred inside one of the motel rooms, but there's evidence to suggest that gunfire may have occurred outside the building as well. The parking lot has been partly cordoned off, and crime scene tape has appeared near the woods adjacent to the motel. One of the motel guests, Chris, recounted the incident in a statement obtained by FOX 5, saying, "When I got up this morning, I heard gunshots and it kind of scared me and had me startled."

Further information from a WSB-TV report indicates that another motel guest, identified as Kevii Tee, heard as many as eight shots being fired. Darryl Thomas, a long-time resident of the extended stay motel, expressed his shock at the violent occurrence, telling WSB-TV, "It just sad now. To know you live out here. It’s a nice place to live. But for something like this to happen, it’s shocking. It really is."

The identity of the victim has not been released by authorities and the search for suspect or suspects in the case is ongoing. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video and are also calling for the public's assistance for any leads. An anonymous tip can be sent by texting "DKPD" to 847411, followed by the information. The community, usually enveloped in a sense of peace as per the residents’ testament, has been left jarred by the morning's events. A delivery driver, Anthony Bonner, shared his perspective with WSB-TV, "[That’s] crazy. That’s nuts. That’s the world we live in. It’s terrible."
