A 13-year-old girl is now in non-critical condition after an accidental, self-inflicted shooting in Whitehaven, Memphis, according to local authorities. The incident, which occurred yesterday afternoon, prompted the Memphis Police Department (MPD) to respond to the 4800 block of Farris Circle shortly after 2:20 p.m. Initially taken to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in critical condition, the teen's health status was later downgraded to non-critical. This information was confirmed by a report from WREG News Channel 3 detailing the events surrounding the shooting.
Earlier reports had mistakenly identified the victim as a boy, but it was later clarified by MPD that the victim was indeed a girl. The nature of the gunshot wound was accidental, as stated in a report by FOX13 Memphis.
