On the heels of a brazen armed robbery in Mattapan, Boston Police have taken a 17-year-old male into custody earlier yesterday. The juvenile from Dorchester was arrested related to the incident that occurred late Sunday at 633 River Street. According to a report by Boston Police, two minors claimed they were robbed at gunpoint while spending time at a friend's home.
The victims, also juveniles, told authorities that the suspect, acquainted with them, had drawn a firearm and forcefully taken a sweatshirt after pressing the weapon against one of their heads. Moreover, the assailant is said to have made threats of bodily harm as they left the scene. Officers and Detectives of the Youth Violence Strike Force acted promptly, not only identifying but also securing an arrest warrant for the suspect.
The operation took place at approximately 6:15 a.m. on yesterday, where a search warrant was also executed at the suspect's residence located at 204 Delphi Street. The Boston Police Department confirmed that the individual was apprehended without incident. A thorough search of the property led to the recovery of the allegedly stolen sweatshirt and a loaded Taurus GX4 handgun with a defaced serial number.
Following the arrest, the young suspect faces multiple charges, including Armed Robbery and Two Counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Additional charges of Two Counts of Threats to Commit a Crime and Two Counts of Witness Intimidation have been levied against him. The juvenile is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court, as detailed by the aforementioned Boston Police's release.
