
A significant traffic incident occurred on Highway 70 East involving a Greyhound bus, according to the Madison County Fire Department's social media. The evening collision resulted in a mass casualty event needing the response of multiple emergency teams. Madison County Fire crews were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1848, facing the daunting task of managing a situation with 39 patients, 27 of whom needed to be transported by ambulance.
Working diligently, emergency personnel from the Madison County Fire Department, with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Madison County Sheriff's Office, and MedCenter EMS, handled the crisis in a coordinated effort. "We deeply appreciate the collaboration and dedication of all agencies involved," as stated in their social media post.
The Madison County Fire Department has requested that residents avoid the area to enable emergency personnel to carry out their duties safely. “Our thoughts are with all those affected by this incident, and we remain committed to providing the highest level of care and support,” the department stated. They also expressed sincere gratitude for the community’s understanding and cooperation.
