The evening collision resulted in a mass casualty event needing the response of multiple emergency teams. Madison County Fire crews were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1848, facing the daunting task of managing a situation with 39 patients, 27 of whom needed to be transported by ambulance.
Working diligently, emergency personnel from the Madison County Fire Department, with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Madison County Sheriff's Office, and MedCenter EMS, handled the crisis in a coordinated effort.
