An 88-year-old man sustained severe injuries last Saturday after being ejected from his car during a three-car collision in Fairfield Township. Local12 reported that Fairfield Township patrol officers witnessed the man's 1995 Chevrolet Camaro running a red light at the intersection of State Route 4 Bypass and eastbound State Route 129. After entering the intersection, the red Camaro collided with a 2022 Ford F-250 pickup truck, causing the elderly driver to be ejected since he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, the Camaro driver was initially treated at the scene before being transported to West Chester Medical Center and later airlifted to UC Medical Center for further care. WCPO states the driver of the F-250 also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to West Chester Medical Center. A potential medical condition, not related to alcohol or drugs, may have played a role in the crash, according to police.
The third vehicle involved was struck as the Camaro rolled over during the accident. However, the crash remains under investigation, and there has been no immediate information regarding any injuries from this third vehicle. Fairfield Township Police have not made an official statement on what may have caused the man to run the red light, though they suspect a medical condition might be a contributing factor.
Authorities have not released any updates on the condition of the two hospitalized individuals. "The crash remains under investigation," as reported by CamaroNews. They will continue to examine the details of this incident to better determine the contributing factors leading up to it.
